Chongsokjong is a scenic spot located on the seashore in the township of Thongchon County, Kangwon Province.

  The basalt lava erupted from a volcano was cooled and compressed in the shapes of hexagonal and octagonal pillars.

  They have been weathered for ages by seawater, wind and rain to make the present stone groups.

  They stretch along the 1 000m-long coast, some standing upright, some others sitting and still others lying.

  Sunrise over Chongsokjong and its night view are marvelous.
